Commercial Scale STT® Equipment
The STT® Reactor is also available for commercial scale applications with working volumes that can exceed 1 liter. Equipment can be made from a variety of metal systems including 316SS, Hastelloy C and titanium. Additionally, we can provide a corrosion resistant finish on iron-containing alloys using a chemical bath nitriding process called carbonitriding that produces a 64 Rockwell C (diamond cone) hardness rating that meets or exceeds stainless steel specifications, is 85% more corrosion resistant than a hard chrome finish, and is 99.9% salt-water corrosion resistant. The commercial systems use double mechanical liquid seals or gas mechanical seals that are industry standards in the chemical processing industry.

The commercial scale system would have different production capabilities depending on the residence time required for the application and the actual working volume. In the case of biodiesel transesterification, this 1 liter working volume reactor is capable of processing over 13 million gallons of biodiesel per year.
All commercial reactors undergo pressure and temperature testing in our reactor test bed to ensure the quality and integrity of the system before shipment. The picture to the right shows a commercial reactor in the test bed.
